A new era of cooperation for citizen security in the Caribbean
Date Published

On November 9, 2025, the European Union and countries from Latin America and the Caribbean launched the EU-LAC Alliance for Citizen Security. This initiative aims to strengthen international cooperation against organized crime, arms trafficking, and cybercrime. It confirms a major trend: citizen security is now a shared priority between Europe and the Caribbean region.
For Sectus Technologies, operating across Canada and the Caribbean, this dynamic creates a favorable environment for innovation and the modernization of critical infrastructures such as airports, ports, industrial sites, and major events.
Key priorities of the EU-LAC Alliance
The alliance focuses on three main objectives:
• strengthening state capacities to prevent and combat transnational crime
• improving regional and international cooperation through data, expertise, and technology sharing
• dismantling criminal networks involved in arms trafficking, human trafficking, and cross-border illegal activities
This joint approach places technology at the heart of the strategy. X-ray scanners, metal detectors, baggage screening systems, and handheld devices are becoming pillars of modern security in the Caribbean.
